The next States meeting will take place on:
02 December 2008
The States have concluded the business listed for 21st October 2008 and will not meet again until Tuesday 2nd December 2008, after the Deputies elections which take place on Wednesday 26th November 2008.
The meeting of 2nd December 2008, when the Budget 2010 will be considered, will be the last meeting of the Assembly as presently constituted.
The new States will meet for the first time on Monday 8th December 2008 to appoint a new Chief Minister. Members will then meet again on Thursday 11th December 2008 to appoint Ministers and Chairmen of Committees and Panels. The other members of those Committees/Panels will be appointed on Tuesday 16th December 2008 which will be the last meeting before the Christmas recess.
13 of the 17 electoral districts for Deputy will be contested in the elections for Deputy on 26th November 2008. 63 candidates have been nominated to contest the 25 seats available.
4 Deputies have already been returned unopposed, namely Deputy Carolyn Labey in Grouville, Deputy Roy Le Herissier in St Saviour No. 3, Deputy Anne Pryke in Trinity and Deputy James Reed in St Ouen.
The successful candidates will take up their new posts on 8th December 2008 when all Senators, Connetables and Deputies who have been elected or re-elected take their oath of office in the Royal Court.
